PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist was seen dumping a stray cat and leaving it to die near a shop in Selayang Jaya last week.

According to Facebook user, Nurul Ain Abdul Hamid, a shop owner told her that the stray cat was found dead in a red mesh onion bag.

"The shop owner informed me that based on a CCTV recording, she saw a man tossing the bag with the cat in it," Nurul Ain said, adding that the cat had tried to escape the bag for about an hour before it died.

She added that the CCTV recording showed the incident took place at about 10.35am on May 5.

The post included a video of the motorcyclist discarding the bag before leaving the scene. The post also has the number plate of the motorcyclist.

Nurul Ain said that the cat, which was usually spotted around the area, was "mute".

"(Dear motorcylist), where is your humanity? The cat also has a right on this earth," she wrote in a Facebook post.

The post got over 2,400 likes, with many people expressing anger at the motorcyclist, and calling for justice to be served.

A report has been made with the Veterinary Services Department, and the department has taken the remains of the cat for autopsy.

However, it is unclear if the department has produced the post-mortem report.

The Star has attempted to contact Nurul Ain for more comments.
