Brothers remanded over alleged assault linked to underage sister, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Two brothers have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a man in Cheras after discovering that he had allegedly engaged in sexual relations with their underage sister.

The suspects, aged 21 and 22 years old, were detained following a fight at the Sri Pulau Pinang Flats in Cheras on Saturday (July 18).

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received a report on the incident at 3.33am.

"The victim sustained serious injuries to his nose, eyes and head and was rushed to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Mukhriz for treatment.

"Acting on information gathered, a team from the Cheras district police headquarters' Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division arrested the two suspects believed to be involved," he said in a statement Tuesday (July 21).

ACP Mohd Rosdi said the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

He added that both suspects have been remanded while investigation papers are being completed for submission to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office.

A police source said the victim was allegedly attacked after the brothers discovered he had allegedly had sexual relations with their younger sister, who is below the age of 18, on several occasions since March.

The source added that the teenage girl has lodged a police report over the matter.

Under Malaysian law, sexual intercourse with a person below the age of 18 may constitute a sexual offence, depending on the circumstances, and the allegations are being investigated by the authorities.

Police have not disclosed whether the man has been arrested or what offences he may face.
