Perak exco members pledge support for MB

IPOH: All 10 state executive councillors as well as Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in Perak have given their full and undivided support to the Mentri Besar in leading the state despite an audio clip denouncing his leadership.

Leading a press conference, senior exco member Asmuni Awi said all of them stood firm behind Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

“On rumours that there is no support for the MB after an audio recording went viral recently, I’d like to emphasise that this is an act of ‘divide and rule’ propaganda.

“Besides that, jealousy towards the leadership of the state Pakatan is another reason for such rumours,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting here yesterday.

He said the press conference was held to put to rest a controversy over the emergence of the audio clip.

Also present were his fellow exco members and some Pakatan assemblymen.

In the audio clip lasting four minutes and 22 seconds, an unidentified man was heard complaining about Ahmad Faizal’s performance in administering the state.

The person seems to be speaking to a few people, believed to be Umno assemblymen. He also claims that other exco members have told him that they want Ahmad Faizal replaced.

State exco member Dr Abdul Aziz Bari denied last week that he was out to oust Ahmad Faizal as the Mentri Besar.

Asmuni said the latest episode has, in fact, strengthened the exco’s unity and improved their relationship as a family for the betterment of Perakians.

“To answer all doubts, we declare our undivided support for the Mentri Besar (Ahmad Faizal) as the chief of the state Pakatan, and as the MB leading the state government.

“This view is shared not only among us exco members but all the other Pakatan assemblymen as well.

“Thus we make a promise to the people of Perak to make it a priority to raise the state’s economic status and take care of the people’s welfare,” he added.
