Sahruddin Jamal sworn in as new Johor MB


JOHOR BARU: Bukit Kepong assemblyman Dr Sahruddin Jamal has been sworn in as the 17th Johor Mentri Besar at Istana Bukit Serene here.

Dr Sahruddin, who is also state Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee chairman, took his oath of office before Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar here on Sunday (April 14).

In a statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim's official Facebook page, Dr Sahruddin received his appointment letter at Bakai Mengadap in Istana Bukit Serene.

Also present at the ceremony was Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim and His Majesty's son-in-law Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah.

Born on May 26, 1975, Dr Sahruddin holds an MBBS degree from Universiti Hasanuddin, Makassar, Indonesia.

Before entering the realm of politics, he operated his own clinic, Klinik Dr Sahruddin, in Bukit Pasir, Pagoh.

His wife Dr Nila Armila Mukdan is also a doctor and they have three daughters, reports Bernama.

Dr Sahruddin, 44, replaced Datuk Osman Sapian who resigned from the post after 11 months.
