Kim Jong-nam murder: Vietnamese suspect pleads guilty to lesser charge


SHAH ALAM: Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, who is implicated in the murder of North Korean Kim Jong-nam, also known as Kim Chol, pleaded guilty after the prosecution charged her with a lesser alternative charge that does not carry the mandatory death penalty. 

She pleaded guilty to the new charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

She faces imprisonment up to 10 years or fine or whipping or whichever two of the punishments. 

Doan was first charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code that carry the mandatory death sentence.
