Miri Police arrest youth who robbed Bulgarian circus performer

MIRI: Miri police have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Bulgarian visitor at knife-point here.

Miri police chief Asst Comm Lim Meng Seah said Wednesday (March 27) that police have solved the robbery involving the 26-year-old Bulgarian woman who was in the city for a circus performance.

She is part of a European circus group on tour here.

On March 20, she was robbed by two youths armed with knives at about 4.40am near the city centre.

They robbed her of her mobile phone but did not hurt her.

ACP Lim said that police raided a house in Kampung Pujut here at about 3.30pm Tuesday (March 26), arrested one of the suspects and recovered the mobile phone.

He added that the suspect is being probed for armed robbery and will be charged accordingly.
