Johor Ruler sees red over allegations

PASIR GUDANG: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has expressed anger over allegations spread by certain quarters that he has a business interest in a factory allegedly involved in the pollution incident here.

The Sultan reminded those who are behind the allegation not to divert the people’s attention from weaknesses of those entrusted with carrying out their responsibilities.

“It has come to my attention that certain quarters are trying to spread slander that I am involved in the business of the factory which has caused pollution in Pasir Gudang.

“I would like to remind all parties to stop politicising this issue. Please present credible evidence if it is true that I am involved in the factory’s business because I have never been fearful nor ever submitted to slander which aims to smear the Johor Royal Institution,” the Sultan said in a statement on his official Facebook page yesterday.

In a later statement on his Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim said he closely followed each development in the pollution incident and received detailed reports on the clean-up being done at Sungai Kim Kim.

The Sultan said he also received reports on the latest updates regarding the number of victims being treated in hospital.

Sultan Ibrahim said that he, along with Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, had visited the victims in hospitals.
