PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has lodged a police report over leaked investigation papers in relation to the case involving the Penang undersea tunnel project.
Political blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin allegedly made an expose based on the leaked documents.
The papers alleged that several DAP leaders, including Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, received kickbacks from the contractor.
Raja Petra claimed that this was revealed by the contractor after the MACC allegedly arrested him and took his statement.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed that a police report was lodged on Thursday.
He, however, declined to elaborate on the issue.
On Friday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad rubbished the graft claims.
“He (Raja Petra) is a liar and you still believe him?” he told reporters after launching the Home Ownership campaign in conjunction with the Malaysia Property Expo 2019 at KLCC.
In several articles posted in his blog over the past week, the blogger alleged that several Penang state exco members were implicated in the MACC’s probe into the project.
The 7.2km undersea tunnel is part of a RM6.3bil project, which also includes three paired roads.
