Papagomo released on police bail after investigations into alleged Syed Saddiq assault complete

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): UMNO Youth executive committee member Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, who was remanded for three days to assist in investigations into the alleged assault of Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, was released on police bail Wednesday (Feb 20).

Kajang deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Abdullah said Papagomo was released after the police completed investigations.

"The investigation papers will be referred to the public prosecutor soon for further instructions," he said in a statement Wednesday.

Papagomo, 36, was remanded for three days from Monday to assist in the investigations over the alleged assault of Syed Saddiq in Kajang last Saturday (Feb 16).

In the 10.45am incident, the Muar MP alleged that he was attacked by a group of opposition supporters after the nomination process for the Semenyih by-election at the Seri Cempaka Hall of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKJ).

A 22-second video clip of the incident, currently making its rounds on social media, showed Syed Saddiq heavily guarded and escorted out by policemen. - Bernama
