Nik Abduh says rivals now trying to paint him as CIA agent

PETALING JAYA: Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz took a swipe at rivals trying to paint him as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent after failing to nail him as a money-grubbing Umno lackey.

Nik Abduh said he had already given a statement to the police months ago about the contents of an audio-clip that went viral early last year in the run up to the 14th General Election.

“Investigations by the authoritative bodies including the police and the MACC (Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission) provide the fastest platform to put an end to politically-motivated spin,” he said on Thursday (Feb 14).

He said this when asked to comment on a police report lodged by Parti Amanah Negara Youth, calling on the police to investigate Nik Abduh’s alleged link to the CIA.

Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sany Hamzan said Nik Abduh’s alleged link to the CIA should be investigated, apart from claims that PAS took money from Umno.

Amanah Youth vice-chief Mohd Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin called on the police to identify the CIA agent who was in contact with Nik Abduh, and verify the nature of information shared.

Mohd Shazni said if allegations of Nik Abduh’s links to the CIA were true, it should be taken seriously as it could undermine national sovereignty.

Nik Abduh had last year dismissed the content of the audio clip as nonsense and an attempt to slander PAS leaders.

Nik Abduh said he was following orders from top party leadership to disassociate himself from the audio clip so as not to embroil the party in unnecessary controversy that could take a toll on its performance in the run up to the last general election.

“The video clip was released by traitors who claim to be doing it to ‘save’ the party, but they are actually serving the interest of rivals by giving them ammunition to shoot me.

“I am like an injured mosquito trapped inside a net, and being torched from the outside,” he said.
