PUTRAJAYA: Former Kota Tinggi MP Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid will face two charges today at the Johor Baru court for allegedly accepting bribes.
Noor Ehsanuddin, who was formerly a board member of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd, will be slapped with a charge of accepting RM230,000 in exchange for a Felda-related project.
The 56-year-old will also face a second charge of accepting a plot of land said to be valued at RM180,000.
It is learnt that the suspect had used his position within Felda by suggesting and then approving the appointment of a printing company that he has an interest in to print 1Suara papers in Felda between 2012 and 2015 worth more than RM13mil.
In return, the one-term MP allegedly received RM50,000 cash in 2013 and obtained a piece of land in Kota Tinggi worth RM180,000 in 2014.
He will be facing charges under Section 165 of the Penal Code at the Johor Baru Sessions court.
Highly placed sources at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that the former lawmaker, who was arrested yesterday, would be charged.
Noor Ehsanuddin was Barisan Nasional candidate for the Kota Tinggi parliamentary seat in the 13th general election.
He was subsequently dropped in the May 9 polls last year.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest of the former MP and that he would be charged today.
