Congratulations pour in for Pahang Sultan after being elected King

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have taken to social media to send their congratulations to the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Pahang princess Tengku Puteri Iman Afzan, 25, posted pictures of her parents as her Instagram story on Thursday (Jan 24) after her father was elected the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

She captioned a picture of her father with "King", another of her mother Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah with "Queen" and one of the royal couple together with "Daulat Tuanku".

Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofia Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah on his Facebook account congratulated Al-Sultan Abdullah on his appointment.

Other Malaysians from various backgrounds also congratulated the King and wishing for the country to prosper under his reign.

Muhammad Izwan Shah posted on Facebook "Congratulations Tuanku. May Allah bless the country under your reign and may the country prosper and become more developed.

"We Malaysians hope that all of us will continue to be more united along with other races under your leadership," he said.

User Nuqman Din said "congratulations, your Majesty on the appointment as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. We hope you can bring Malaysia to a greater heights," he said.

Khairudin Baharudin said; "Daulat Tuanku! Alhamdullilah and all the best to you as the new Ruler of Pahang and the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. You know the pulse of the people and may you rule the country with justice and fairness."

The Pahang's Al-Sultan Abdullah was elected the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong while Perak's Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah was named as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term from Jan 31.

The appointments were decided at a special meeting of the Malay Rulers chaired by the Terengganu's Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

The Malay Rulers met to elect the new King following the unprecedented resignation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 6.
