Muhyiddin: Umno and PAS make 'strange bedfellows' for political gain

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has lambasted Umno and PAS during the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia annual general meeting, calling them "adulterers who cheated and kissed each other for political gain".

The Bersatu president said Malays left Umno after realising that the party had robbed them clean during its tenure in government.

He said this in his officiating speech of the Bersatu Youth and Women wings here at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) Friday night (Dec 28).

In his speech, he also said that Umno and PAS had slandered Bersatu and tried to scare Malays into believing that the position of Islam, the race and Malay rulers would be affected when Pakatan took over.

He said that it was mere slander, and that Bersatu would push for a new bumiputra agenda to advance them economically and socially.

"Malays already know Umno and PAS. Both are the same – one is a robber and the other is willing to kiss the robber.

"They also cheated and slept together for the sake of political gain. Now, the whole world knows the 1MDB scandal but PAS is happy with Umno's explanation about 1MDB," said Muhyiddin.

About 2,000 delegates and observers dressed in red converged at PICC for the three-day AGM, which will end on Sunday (Dec 30).
