PETALING JAYA: A 37-year-old man has been detained for allegedly raping his 10-year-old daughter multiple times since 2017.

The case came to light after she confided in her grandmother on Tuesday (Dec 25).

"The complainant, a 60-year-old grandmother, was informed of the rape by the victim. According to the complainant, the girl was raped by her own father in their house in Taman Changkat Permata, in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

"The complainant was previously the victim's guardian until 2017," said Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan in a statement on Friday (Dec 28).

He added that the man had allegedly forced himself on his daughter, despite efforts to fight him off.

It is learnt that the victim's mother had already remarried.

"A 37-year-old man was arrested and has been remanded from Dec 25 to Dec 31. Investigations are still ongoing," said Supt Mohd Zaid.
