ISKANDAR PUTERI: Investigations will be carried out in connection with a police report lodged by an assistant of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over allegations against the former premier.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that if necessary, the police would also call up the politician who made the allegations.

He said the report was lodged at the Sentul police district headquarters.

“When a report is lodged, we will investigate because that is the normal procedure. We will take the necessary action,” he said after launching the police-level National Sports Day at Puteri Harbour yesterday.

Najib’s assistant had lodged the report on Friday asking the police to call up DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang to give his statement over the allegations he made connecting Najib to several high-profile murder cases.

The report also stated that if investigations showed that Najib was innocent, the assistant wanted his employer’s name to be cleared and asked the police to take action against Lim, who is also the Iskandar Puteri MP.

Last Thursday, Najib in a Facebook posting directed his assistant to make a report to allow police investigations to be carried out involving the allegations of his involvement in the murders of Arab-Malaysia Bank Development Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi, Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, Teoh Beng Hock and deputy public prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais.

Lim and Najib had engaged in a public tiff over the matter for several weeks since Lim urged the government to reconsider opening fresh investigations into these high-profile murders.

Previously, Lim in his blog had said that Najib did not kill Teoh but that his administration must be held responsible for Teoh’s death.

Najib said the Pakatan Harapan government’s refusal to conduct special investigations into these high-profile cases had vindicated him over the slanderous accusations that had plagued his leadership over the previous years.
