PETALING JAYA: The announcement by de facto Law Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong that Malaysia will abolish the death penalty has sparked off a lot of discussion.
On the one hand, many believe it’s about time and that the death sentence has proven to be an ineffective deterrent.
Others believe that it is an effective deterrent and its abolition would only embolden criminals.
