Unesco to help locals develop real heritage industries in George Town, not just cheap souvenirs

GEORGE TOWN: Heritage activities/customs and development of local industries are two areas that George Town has been selected by Unesco to take on.

Unesco Jakarta Cultural Unit Head Moe Chiba said Penang is also the only city in Asia chosen for the projects on intangible cultural heritage and to create an action plan for industries within heritage sites.
