Fashion icon and actor Wak Doyok joins Amanah

PETALING JAYA: Local fashion icon Wak Doyok, whose real name is Mohd Azwan Mohd Nor, has joined Parti Amanah Negara to fight for the idea of "Islam for all".

Amanah vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar announced his membership on Saturday (Sept 22) during the party's third anniversary event held in Temerloh, Pahang.

Wak Doyok said that he had decided to join Amanah for its "openness in fighting for the concept of Islam for all".

"I became interested in joining Amanah after the party managed to attract many professionals, be it Malay or non-Malay.

"I wanted to be part of the change, especially in an Islamic struggle that provides for all," Wak Doyok said.

The 39-year-old first announced that he was going to join Amanah in July after submitting his membership form.

He mentioned that he wanted to empower youth in the economy and help the party to educate the people in terms of "lifestyle".

After being appointed as a representative of the Malaysian Youth Economic Action Council he said he believes he will be able to help in empowering youth economically with his participation in the party.

Wak Doyok was the star of local film Abang Long Fadil 2, and is known for his perfectly-groomed moustache.

Before taking on movie roles, he was a social media influencer known for his notably stylish sense of fashion.
