Cyclist killed on the spot after being hit by car


KOTA KINABALU: A cyclist was killed when his bicycle collided with a car near the Taman Khidmat junction along Jalan Lintas here.

The deceased was identified as Jazlan Atah Abdullah, 59, from Banggi, Kudat.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said the accident happened at 10.14pm on Sunday (June 24).

Jazlan was killed on the spot, and was pronounced dead by medical personnel from Hospital Queen Elizabeth II.

The 24-year-old driver escaped unscathed.

The case has been classified as reckless driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
