KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is currently recording the statement of the Sabah STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic).

His statement is currently being given to investigators at the Sabah MACC headquarters in the federal complex here.

A Sabah STAR spokesman said at 3.30pm Tuesday (May 22) that Dr Jeffrey was currently being questioned at the state MACC headquarters.

He said Dr Jeffrey would talk to media after his statement was recorded.

It was learned that graft investigators raided Dr Jeffrey ’s house in Keningau on Monday (May 21).

However, the MACC officers in Kota Kinabalu have yet to comment on the ongoing investigation. The exact nature of the probe is still unclear.

Dr Jeffrey is believed to under investigation in connection with suspected corrupt practices involving the just-concluded 14th general elections (GE14).

Sabah STAR had become the kingmaker when both Parti Warisan Sabah and Sabah Barisan were tied with 29 seats in the 60-member state assembly.

It had won two state seats in GE14.

Dr Jeffrey had initially talked to Warisan but eventually aligned with Sabah Barisan. This led to Tan Sri Musa Aman being sworn in as chief minister on May 10.

Musa however lost his majority when six assemblymen crossed over to declare their support for Warisan and its partners PKR and DAP.

Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was then sworn in as Chief Minister on May 12.
