KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Karim Bujang is set to take on Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman in the Kimanis parliamentary seat.
Karim, a former Bongowan assemblyman and ex-Sabah Barisan Nasional secretary, joined Parti Warisan Sabah a few weeks ago.
Warisan is led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, which is leading the Opposition in the state and is linked to Pakatan Harapan.
When contacted, Karim confirmed that he had joined Warisan but declined to say if he would be contesting in GE14.
"You will know on nomination day (April 28)," said Karim, who has been keeping a low profile after he was dropped from the Barisan line-up in 2013.
He among the now-defunct Usno assemblymen formerly led by the late Tun Datu Mustapha Datu Harun, who joined Umno when it spread its wings to Sabah in 1991 after Parti Bersatu Sabah pulled out of Barisan midway through the 1990 general election.
Karim, an ethnic Brunei Malay, won the Bongowan state seat under Usno in 1990 and retained the seat until he was dropped in 2013.
Karim served as a state assistant minister in various capacities between 1994 and 2008 but a full state minister post remained elusive.
After 2008 elections, he was appointed Sabah Ports Authority chairman and was dropped in GE13.
