Don’t gamble the next five years away, MB warns Johoreans

PASIR GUDANG: The next five years are not something that should be experimented upon or the people will be on the losing end, said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic).

He said the people should study the manifestos of both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan to compare who was serious in developing the country and caring for the people’s wellbeing.

“At the national level, Barisan has 300 pledges while Pakatan has only listed 60. For Johor, we have 230 pledges but Pakatan only has 20, which is not good to make the state the new economic powerhouse in the region.

“Barisan is able to deliver the pledges because of consensus among ourselves. But on the other side, they would not be able to agree with one another as their partnership is only a marriage of convenience,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of SJK(C) Ladang Grisek at Eco Tropics here yesterday.

The school, originally located in Ledang, will be moved to a new 2.41ha site along Jalan Kota Masai, in the heart of the Eco Tropics township.

The school will be constructed in three phases, with the first scheduled to begin in July. It is expected to open at the start of the school year in 2020.

The estimated cost for phase one is RM7.5mil, and it would be fully subsidised by EcoWorld Malaysia.

Also present at the ceremony was MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Mohamed Khaled praised MCA for playing an important role in helping the Chinese community, especially in education and economic development.

He said MCA’s main priority was to champion issues affecting the community, and not about just gaining political support.

“I do not understand why there is one particular party that wants to kill off MCA because it is important to have Chinese representation in the Government,” he added.

Mohamed Khaled said the party which wanted to eliminate MCA once treated PAS as its political bedfellow for five years but had now changed partners.
