GEORGE TOWN: The "Lone Ranger" two-term Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu will officially leave DAP on Sunday.
Teh had been vocal on environmental issues such as hill slope development, sea reclamation, flooding and high-density mega projects.
He had also spoken out on limiting the chief minister's tenure to two terms.
Teh said he would submit his official resignation letter to a division leader on Sunday (April 8).
"I have contacted Lim Cheng Hoe, who is Tanjung Bungah DAP branch chief and also Bukit Bendera DAP division secretary to be present at my press conference at 10am on Sunday (April 8).
"This is to receive my official letter to quit the party and also to surrender my membership card," said Teh on Saturday (April 7).
There is talk that Teh will join Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and be the party's candidate in the Sungai Pinang state seat
Teh, however, remained coy about the matter.
"A press conference will be held in Sungai Pinang on Monday (April 9) and an announcement will be made," he said.
Lim, however, said he is unlikely to be present at the press conference.
"I don't think I am the suitable person to receive the letter. I am not a state exco member.
"Actually, he can send in the letter to the party either via post or email," said Lim.
