Pribumi: We can’t meet RoS demands yet

MUAR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) will not be able to furnish minutes of meetings of its division and branches within the 30 days required by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Pribumi president said this was because RoS had only approved the setting up of the divisions last July and no organisation held an annual general meeting in less than one year of its establishment.

On the minutes of the branches’ meetings, he said the party was still in the process of setting up its branches and getting approval from the RoS, so no meeting could be held.

“It is not that we cannot meet what RoS wants, so I think this is about the logic of the regulations. Other matters are not a problem.

“Let’s resolve this first and then wait for the outcome from RoS,” he told reporters in Pagoh here yesterday.

RoS had given Pribumi 30 days to respond to its Feb 28 notice, requiring the party to submit minutes of meetings held at branches and divisions and at the central level, failing which the RoS has the authority to execute a follow-up action by issuing an order for the party to be deregistered.

Muhyiddin added that the audit financial report required more time to be completed before it was submitted to RoS.

Asked about Pribumi’s plan should the party get deregistered, he said he did not want to dwell on the question as it was important for the party to fulfil the nine requirements set by RoS, including submitting information on its members, minutes and financial statements. — Bernama
