CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Several roads leading to Cameron Highlands will be temporarily closed off for the Le Tour De Langkawi 2018 (LTdL 2018) cycling event.
Cameron Highlands OCPD Deputy Supt Hasadid A. Hamid said the temporary road closure would happen on March 22.
“It will be during the fifth stage of the international cycling event," he said.
The flag off will be in at Bentong town at 11am and is expected to end at Tanah Rata town at about 3pm, he said.
“The road closure will be done in stages by the police,” he added.
DSP Hasadid said the areas involved included the border between Sungai Koyan and Ringlet, Kampung Leryar, Bertam Valley, Ringlet, Habu and Tanah Rata.
“Motorists are advised to plan their journey to avoid getting caught in traffic snarls.
“They are encouraged to travel to the highlands via Simpang Pulai, Ipoh, as an alternative route,” he said.

LTdL 2018 will be a 1,341km race through eight states in Peninsular Malaysia from March 18 - 25.
It will feature 132 racers representing 22 teams of various categories, including World Pro Tour and professional outfits as well as national teams.
LTdL 2018 will start from Kangar to Kulim over a distance of 147.9km; followed by the Gerik-Kota Bharu stage (208.3km); Kota Bharu-Kuala Terengganu (166.0km); Dungun-Pekan (177.6km).
The fifth stage will be from Bentong to Cameron Highlands over 169.4km. Then the race proceeds to three more stages at Tapah-Tanjung Malim (108.5km), Nilai-Muar (222.4km) and Rembau-Kuala Lumpur (141.1km), before ending at Dataran Merdeka, KL.
