Mosque given ritual cleansing, to get new carpets

PETALING JAYA: The mosque in Sungai Buloh which a wild boar ran went into has been given a ritual cleansing (samak) and will be fitted with a new carpet soon.

According to a statement released by Masjid Jamek Sungai Plong, the mosque's carpets were tainted with the wild boar's blood when the animal was shot and had to be discarded.

The mosque has ordered new carpets at the cost of RM34,000.

Villagers removing the mosque's carpets, which will soon be replaced.

With assistance from the Selangor Mufti Department, villagers gathered to clean the mosque at 10am Wednesday (March 7).

To clean the wild boar's blood from the floor and walls of the mosque, they washed the tainted area seven times.

The first time entailed washing the area with a mixture of water and soil.

The mosque's imams, Mohamed Rahmat Ahmad Bukhari and Ungku Ahmad Hazwan Ungku Kamarudin, oversaw the cleaning process.

On Wednesday, an injured wild boar caused a ruckus when it entered the mosque, injuring a worshipper.

It was shot by another person in the mosque with a shotgun.

About three quarters of the prayer hall and the veranda of the mosque were affected.
