Maria Chin Abdullah to quit Bersih, run in GE14 under Pakatan


PETALING JAYA: Maria Chin Abdullah will resign as Chairman of Bersih 2.0 and contest in the coming general elections.

Maria said that she is offering herself as an independent candidate to Pakatan Harapan.

"I have decided to resign from Bersih 2.0 as the Chair and to take on a new challenge in the political arena," read a message inviting the media to a press conference regarding the matter that has been scheduled for Tuesday (March 6).

When contacted for comment, Maria just said "Come to the pc. Tq".

According to sources, Maria Chin has been slated to run in Petaling Jaya Selatan, where incumbent Hee Loy Sian has served two terms under the PKR banner.

Former Bersih chairman Ambiga is also said to be a potential candidate to take on MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam in Segamat.
