Senior citizen dies after being hit by car in Labuan

LABUAN: A senior citizen was killed after he was hit by a car while crossing Jalan OKK Abdullah here.
 
Palahuddin Abdul, 64, suffered severe head injuries in the accident at 6.50pm on Wednesday (Feb 28).
 
He was rushed to Hospital Nukleus Labuan for treatment but succumbed to his injuries at around 1.05am Thursday (March 1).
 
Labuan deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said the 65-year-old car driver, an oil and gas worker, escaped unscathed.
 
"The driver was heading to Taman Kian Yap from the city when the accident occurred.
 
"He slammed the brakes on his car, but could not avoid the man," said DSP Mohd Ibrahim.
 
He urged witnesses to come forward and assist in investigations.
 
He also advised the public to exercise caution and use designated pedestrian walkways when crossing the road.
