PETALING JAYA: Malaysian culinary arts student Lai Jia Yi beat contestants from 42 countries to clinch the top prize at the 4th International Young Chef Olympiad 2018 competition.

Lai, 21, received the gold prize at the closing ceremony in Kolkata, India, on Friday.
