Indira all smiles as she gives thanks to Lord Muruga

IPOH: Looking a little weary from Thaipusam prayers the night before, M. Indira Gandhi was still all smiles when she arrived at the Arulmigu Maha Mariamman temple for the festival.

Several devotees, who recognised her, congratulated her on her legal triumph after nine long years.

Looking sharp in a colourful saree, Indira was all smiles after the Federal Court decision to annul her three children’s conversion to Islam.

She arrived at about 8am to perform prayers and give thanks to Lord Muruga together with her mother S. Renggamah, 75, and ­eldest daughter Tevi Darsiny, 20.

Indira’s son Karan Dinish, 19, is studying in Kuala Lumpur.

“I’m waiting for him to come back so that we can enjoy a family feast together,” she said.

Indira’s spirits were further lifted in the morning after learn­ing that her ex-husband and youngest daughter Prasana Diksa, nine, are believed to be still in the country.

“It’s good to know that they’re still here. It’s something positive from the IGP,” she added.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said that police believed K. Pathmana­than @ Muhammad Riduan Abdul­lah had not left the country.

This followed checks with the Immigration Department.

However, Indira does not have any clue as to her ex-husband’s whereabouts.

“The last we heard was that he was in Kelantan. He does not contact us at all. I really hope the police can locate them soon,” she said.

Mohamad Fuzi also said the police’s biggest obstacle was a lack of leads and urged those with information to come forward.

On Monday, the Federal Court granted Indira’s appeal and nullified the unilateral conversion of Darsiny, Karan and Prasana to Islam by her ex-husband.

The Federal Court had on April 29, 2016, ordered the IGP to execute a warrant of arrest for Riduan.

He had disobeyed the Ipoh High Court’s order to return Prasana to her mother.
