Rahman Dahlan: Dr M as Pakatan Harapan’s pick for PM “a tragedy” for them

PETALING JAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan (pic) has mocked Pakatan Harapan’s pick for Prime Minister in a series of tweets on Sunday, saying that it has made things easier for Barisan Nasional.

“Finally PH (Pakatan Harapan) chose someone they called the most corrupted man in Malaysia as their PM. What a shame,” he tweeted from his @mpkotabelud account.

According to Abdul Rahman, the announcement of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister is a “gross disservice” to Pakatan’s own reform agenda, and he called it “a tragedy to their own cause”.

“The funny thing is that PH announced (Dr) Mahathir as PM and at the same time announce a slew of proposed reforms as their agenda. The truth is Mahathir won’t implement those reforms,” he added.

Abdul Rahman said it was “laughable” for Pakatan to appoint Dr Mahathir as the next premier and expect him to implement those reforms.

“What happened to the Nurul Izzahs of PH? Has PH succumbed to its lust for power at the expense of its ideals?” he questioned.

Terming it a “bad, bad” strategic move on Pakatan’s part, Abdul Rahman said the bottom line was that Dr Mahathir is not synonymous with the reform initiatives that Pakatan concurrently announced on Sunday.

“Anyway I thank PH for making it even easier for BN to win the upcoming general election. The announcement of Mahathir as their PM candidate is absolutely good news for BN. PH shows how all these years of talking of reform and giving young people a chance was mere rhetoric,” he concluded.
