Selangor to continue prioritising home ownership

GOMBAK: Affordable housing will be among the main priorities in Selangor’s state budget 2018, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

“Making affordable housing accessible to middle and low income group helps in combating poverty. As more people are working in Selangor, we want to prepare more houses in strategic areas, especially closer to public transportation and other facilities.

“We will continue this initiative which stresses on house ownership where none will be sidelined,” he told a press conference after handing over keys for houses at Selangor State Development Corporation’s (PKNS) Rumah Selangorku Idaman, at Kota Puteri.

“Rumahku Selangor is one of Selangor’s people-centric initiatives and the projects will continue on,” he added.

Two other sectors, namely education and transportation, will also be the focus of the state budget.

The ceremony marked the completion of 198 units of two-storey townhouses which were sold at RM185,000 to RM197,000 with sizes ranging from 92.3sq m to 97.1sq m.

It also features special units for the disabled and senior citizens on the ground floor.

Selected house owners also attended the ceremony for the handover of the keys. PKNS targets to build 12,000 affordable houses by 2020.
