Amendments in the works over penalties for abuse


PETALING JAYA: Amendments to the offences and penalties for the abuse of ketum leaves are being finalised, said the Health Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Services Division.

A spokesman for the division said the proposed amendments to the Poisons Act 1952 (revised 1989) included categorising ketum as a psychoactive plant that contains psychotropic ingredients, under a new schedule.
