Moment of comfort: Dr Ahmad Zahid meeting with survivors of the fire.

KUALA LUMPUR: Safety standards for tahfiz and religious schools have to be followed, regardless of whether they are in permanent or temporary buildings, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said there was a National Tahfiz Education Policy that had to be complied with, including safety measures as determined by local authorities and the Fire and Rescue Department.
