SIBU: An Indonesian bomoh has been charged at a Sessions Court here with raping a woman who went to him for treatment over stomach pain.

Marhaji Madjiri, 29, who was also accused of inserting his finger into the woman’s private parts, denied both charges.

He was charged under Section 376(2) and (F) of the Penal Code with raping the 20-year-old woman between 11.30pm and 11.59pm in the bathroom of her house in Sibu Jaya on Aug 21.

The second charge was under Section 377ca of the same Code. This allegedly took place at the same time and place.

It was reported that the “treatment” was initially carried out in a room in the presence of the woman’s mother and aunt but later shifted to the bathroom.

Justice Caroline Bee Jackson fixed bail at RM8,000 in one surety, fixed Sept 19 for mention and ordered Marhaji to report to the police station once a month.

Earlier, at a magistrate’s court, Marhaji faced another charge under Section 377D of the same Code with committing gross indecency on the same woman.

Magistrate Saiful Ayoti released him on a RM7,000 bail in two sureties. He also ordered Marhaji’s passport to be impounded.

The court fixed Sept 19 for mention of this case too.
