PETALING JAYA: Award-winning actress Siti Saleha (pic) is proud of Malaysia’s diversity in culture.
Reflecting on the country’s multicultural identity, the star of popular drama 7 Hari Mencintaiku feels that this is something special.
“We celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas and many other festivities nationwide.
“These are public holidays to everyone.
“I don’t think you get this kind of privilege in any other country.
“We are also a nation rich in culture, especially when we come together to celebrate diversity in wedding customs, dances and arts,” said the actress.
In line with Malaysia’s diversity, the 27-year-old also feels that Malaysians should learn to care for one another.
“You would develop honesty and sincerity when you care.
“That way, you wouldn’t say or do anything that is disrespectful.
“I believe caring is an important ingredient to our lives here,” she added.
On Aug 27, The Star urges all Malaysians to come together for the Anak-Anak Malaysia 5km walk event to celebrate the country’s unity.
An event like Anak-Anak Malaysia, said Siti, could help mould Malaysians into working together for a stronger and better nation.
“It’s important to create awareness on why unity matters while moving forward, welcoming the future as well as preserving our cultures so that these live on.
“Young, old, male or female – we are all anak-anak Malaysia. If we are not a part of it, then who will?” asked the newlywed who tied the knot with 31-year-old civil servant Ahmad Lutfi Azhar last Friday.
The couple plan to go to Mauritius for their honeymoon at a later date.
#AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam, on Aug 27.
The registration fee is RM80 for a family (two adults plus two children), RM40 for an adult and RM15 for a child (12 years and below).
