KOTA KINABALU: A potential disaster from large logs and debris smashing into houses in flood-hit Kota Belud district was averted through teamwork of the local residents and Civil Defence personnel on Tuesday.

Sabah Civil Defence Department director Kol Mulliadi AlHamid Ladin said the villagers saw logs and debris floating towards their wooden houses and feared that they could smash into them.
