IPOH: A food processing factory owner who was detained during Saturday’s Ops Ikrar at the Chandan Raya Industrial Estate in Menglembu has been released on bail.
Perak Immigration operations chief Suhairie Bah Ali said they took a statement from the man, who is in his 40s, yesterday.
“We are still investigating the matter. There’s not much development now,” he said.
It was reported that the man and some 35 illegal immigrants were arrested during the operation at two locations, including a construction site in Taman Menglembu Impiana Adril.
The factory owner was being investigated under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act for harbouring the workers.
The foreign workers are being detained at the Immigration headquarters in Meru for 14 days.
