Datuks’ council: Strip titles and awards from felons


PETALING JAYA: Lawmakers should consider legislation to automatically strip a person of his state or federal titles and awards when convicted of a crime, says the Council of Federal Datuks Malaysia.

Its president Tan Sri Danny Ooi said that at present, a Datukship or other titles could only be withdrawn by the Ruler who conferred it.
