Blogger Din Turtle passes away

PETALING JAYA: Political blogger Shaifudin Mahmud also known as Din Turtle passed away on Sunday at his home in Kuala Terengganu.

Shaifudin, 50, was reported to have passed away after complaining of fatigue and body aches at about 6pm.

Shaifudin’s blog has attracted more than 3.5 million unique visitors.

The blog started out as being pro-Umno but later changed its stance, especially in regards to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) saga.

His last blogpost on Sunday was about the Bersih 5 rally.

“It's not a lost cause.... there is still hope for the rakyat!,” he said in the post about the rally on Saturday.

His son Ahmad Safwan said that Shaifudin would be buried at the Ladang Tok Pelam cemetery in Kuala Terengganu at 10am Monday.
