Bersih 5: Fahmi Reza detained at end of rally


PETALING JAYA: Activist Fahmi Reza (pic) is the latest rally-goer to be arrested.

The graphic artist, who was present at the Bersih 5 rally, was arrested at KLCC at around 6.05pm Saturday.

"Aku baru kena tangkap polis masa di KLCC lepas demo tamat. Dibawa ke IPK KL. (I was just arrested at KLCC after the demonstration ended. Brought to Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters)," he wrote on his Facebook account.

The rally ended at about 6pm.

Earlier at 2pm, Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee Chuan How was arrested at KL Sentral and brought to the same police station.

In a late night swoop, Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos was arrested along with Red Shirts activists Razali Zakaria and Ariffin Abu Bakar.

Among the first to be hauled up by police were Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah and Bersih secretariat officer Mandeep Singh on Friday.

Also arrested were the DAP's Seremban MP Anthony Loke, former Pandamaran assemblyman Ronnie Liu, and members Jimmy Wong and Lee Khai Ming.

Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) leader S. Arutchelvan, and activists Luqman Nul Hakim Zul Razali, Anis Syafiqah Md Yusof and Muhammad Safwan Anang were next.
