Reminiscing the Old days: Former Penang CPO Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan recalled how The Star has developed from a humble beginning when he first serve in Georgetown as OCPD to the countrys No.1 English Daily.

PETALING JAYA: The recesses of the past might be hazy, but former top cop Tan Sri Mohamad Zaman Khan remembers the night when the early batch of the first issue of The Star came rolling off the presses.

The paper made its debut on Sept 9, 1971 – coincidentally, also the late founder K.S. Choong’s birthday, and the night of Sept 8 was fraught with frenzied activity and anticipation.
