Husam Musa makes Amanah move

CYBERJAYA: Former PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa has joined Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

"Tonight, I dedicate myself to the cause of Amanah," said the long-term Salor assemblyman during an Amanah Merdeka eve dinner hosted by Putrajaya Amanah here on Tuesday night.

"Hopefully the leadership will approve my application," he said in his speech.

Husam was a special guest at the event attended by, amongst others, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, deputy president Salahuddin Ayub, secretary-general Mohd Anuar Tahir, organising secretary Suhaizan Kayat, information chief Khalid Samad, Federal Territories Amanah chairman Mohd Hatta Ramli, Sepang MP Dr Hanipa Maidin, strategic director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok.

Previously, Husam had kept mum on his political future following his sacking from PAS.

Husam joining Amanah was no surprise as he had previously publicly campaigned for the party during the Sungai Besar by-election last June over PAS.

Husam, once a blue-eyed boy of the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, was sacked from PAS in May, following complaints of misconduct.

Prior to that, he was vocal in criticising PAS party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang over rampant logging in PAS-led Kelantan and against the rumoured unity government with Umno.

In a statement on Monday, Husam publicly declared that he would be joining a new party.

He also said that he had been enjoying a "cooling-off period" and had been meeting members of the public to get their views and observing current goings-on.
