Keeping one’s mind occupied can help to avoid involvement with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (pic).

He was commenting on the effectiveness of programmes like the Prime Symposium: Marriage Issues, Family Matters, Entrepreneurship and Management.

The symposioum was held in cooperation with various agencies, including the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (Yapeim), the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi).

“As part of the programme, there are explanations of LGBT issues, which are against Islam. Programmes like this one fill participants’ free time with productive activities and useful knowledge and can help them avoid getting involved in LGBT activities,” said Jamil in a written response to Datuk Johari Abdul (PKR-Sungai Petani).

Johari had asked about the amount spent by Yapeim on organising marriage courses overseas and how it managed to eliminate or reduce the spread of LGBT culture in the country.
