PKR-DAP war of words heats up

KLANG: The war of words between the Selangor mentri besar and the Penang chief minister is heating up.

In the latest salvo, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali's political secretary Mat Shuhaimi Shafie told Lim Guan Eng to stop “twisting and diverting” Azmin's statement on the sacking of two PKR assemblymen from Penang government-linked companies (GLCs).

"Lim Guan Eng always gives the opposite perception of any issue.

"This time we urge him to be honest in line with the spirit of Pakatan Harapan," said Mat Shuhaimi.

He reiterated that Azmin's statement conveyed PKR's stand on the matter.

"What Azmin stated has nothing to do with his position as mentri besar. It was made in his capacity as PKR deputy president," he said.

Mat Shuhaimi was responding to Lim's latest comments that Azmin's statement was out of the norm and that Pakatan leaders never interfered in matters involving other state leaders, whether it is the chief minister or mentri besar.

He said differences in opinion within Pakatan should reflect political maturity and not weakness in the partnership.

Lim sacked Ong Chin Wen and Cheah Kah Peng, who are Bukit Tengah and Kebun Bunga assemblymen respectively, from the GLCs for not voting against an Umno motion during the Penang state legislative assembly sitting end of last year.

Umno had tabled a motion to stop all government reclamation projects in the island.
