GEORGE TOWN: Several purported lists of the new state exco line up in Kedah have surfaced in the social media following reports that the group that wants Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir out has managed to secure the majority support from among state assemblymen.

It is believed that the lists were being spread by those who wanted to promote certain people for the coveted posts or the work of supporters of leading politicians.

According to one list, state Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah would be sworn as mentri besar on Jan 29.

Bukit Lada assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Lebai Sudin would be appointed as senior exco member. The list contains the names of new exco members and those who would be dropped.

Two assemblymen from MCA have denied that they had signed any statutory documents pertaining to the removal of Mukhriz.

State exco member Dr Leong Yong Kong, who is Gurun assemblyman, and Kulim assemblyman Chua Thiong Gee said they were leaving it to the Barisan Nasional leadership to resolve the matter.

It was reported that 17 Umno assemblymen and two from MCA had signed the declarations.

Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Mukhriz should call for an emergency assembly sitting to ascertain whether he commands the majority support of the 36 assemblymen in the state.

Lim said a no-confidence vote was the best solution to resolve the political crisis.

State DAP chairman Tan Kok Yew is Derga assemblyman while another party leader Tan Kok Yew is Kota Darul Aman assemblyman.
