KOTA KINABALU: In this digital age, the habit of reading physical books is slowly dying.

However Chloe Lim, senior public relations manager at Big Bad Wolf Books, said the love for reading should be revived because knowledge and an entire universe of possibilities can be discovered through books.

With that in mind, she said the company is expanding its outreach programmes here as they bring their biggest sale event to the Sabah International Convention Centre from Oct 30 to Nov 9.

This round, in the lead-up to the sale, the team has been visiting schools and connecting with educators and students across Kota Kinabalu, she said.

“These visits create opportunities to meet the people at the heart of the local reading community - from teachers who nurture young minds every day to students discovering stories that spark their curiosity,” Lim said.

“Through conversations, Big Bad Wolf Books hopes to make reading more enjoyable, familiar and exciting for young readers,” she said.

She said they hope to collaborate with more schools and government as well as private agencies to bring literacy and the love for reading to more communities in future.

For this coming event, over a million books with 40% new titles will be up for grabs at special prices and chances to win lucky draw prizes as well as goodies.

Students and educators will get a 5% discount if they are building personal or classroom libraries while early birds (the first 50 visitors) each day arriving before 11am will receive an exclusive RM10 cash voucher to kick-start their book hunt.

There is also an opening-day exclusives on Oct 30 where shoppers who spend RM200 in a single receipt will receive five lucky-draw entries, among other perks.

The book sale opens 10am to 10pm daily throughout this period.

“Sabah is home to a wonderfully diverse community of readers, and we want to make sure there is something here for everyone - especially children and young people who are still discovering what they love to read,” concluded Lim.
