JOHOR BARU: The action of two customers who brought their dog into a hypermarket by placing it in an empty trolley has been described as being "insensitive" to Muslims.

The photo of the two women with their dog was uploaded on Facebook and has since gone viral.

It was captured by one of the customers at the hypermarket in Plentong, Masai on Saturday.

A Facebook user known as Annie Belinda Han in her post wrote that the women should not bring their dog into a public area such as a hypermarket.

"The building management should put up a huge notice board in four languages to notify customers ‘no pets allowed’ in the premise,'' she said.

Annie added that the security guards on duty should be more alert and customers who brought their pets into the hypermarket should be stopped from entering the area.

Another Facebook user, Zaberi Che Mat, said the hypermarket management should be more responsible and must ensure that such an incident should not happen again.

"Where are the security guards on duty when the two women brought the dog into the place? Action should be taken against them for failing to stop the women,'' he added.

A spokesman of the hypermarket, who declined to be identified, told reporters on Sunday that about 500 trolleys had been cleaned following Saturday’s incident.
