Guan Eng wins RM300,000 in defamation suit

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng won RM300,000 in damages in a defamation suit against three defendants including Penang Citizens Chant Group (Chant) adviser Prof Dr Jimmy Lim Cheok Siang.

In his statement of claim, Guan Eng said that Cheok Siang used defamatory, untruthful and malicious words during a press conference on Dec 6, 2013, causing the ‘defamatory and false statements’ to be published on the FMT website.
