Year Three pupil dies from bee attack

KEMAMAN: Nur Iman Iqmal Syafizan, 9, has died after being stung by bees four days ago in Kampung Paya Berenjut, here.

The Standard Three pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Mak Lagam died at 5.45pm yesterday while undergoing treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), Kuala Terengganu.

 His father, Syafizan Mohd Sallehuddin, 41, said Nur Iman complained of being stung by bees on the way home from school at 6.20pm on Tuesday.

"On seeing the sting marks, I took my son to the bathroom in the hope of relieving the pain," he told reporters at Kemaman Hospital.

After the bath, Nur Iman fainted and was rushed to Kemaman Hospital for emergency treatment.

"From the sting marks, I believe that Nur Iman was stung by more than once on his neck resulting in swelling,” added Syafizan.

Syafizan said Nur Iman was transferred to HSNZ at 5.45am on Wednesday after he slipped into a coma.

"Doctors said the stings in the neck might have caused the death because they attacked the nerves and the heart.

"After being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Nur Iman's condition did not change before he was pronounced dead yesterday evening." – Bernama
